John Ceaglske

Growing up in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, I was surrounded by people who worked hard for everything they had. My parents were no different. They gave me what they could, but money was always tight, and I understood that early. What I took from it was a straightforward ambition: I wanted to help people make smarter decisions with what they earned. UW-Whitewater gave me the chance to put together two things I'd always cared about, numbers and people, and that combination eventually became my career.

Twenty-seven years in, the work still holds my attention. The profession keeps changing, new tools, new strategies, new challenges, and staying ahead of that is something I take seriously. My approach to financial planning is built on a premise I hold firmly: investment management and tax strategy have to work together, because you can't optimize one while ignoring the other. The goal, over time, is for clients to feel clearly that the value they receive exceeds what they pay for it. We get there by focusing on after-tax outcomes rather than headline returns.

Honesty is the part of this job I take most seriously. Clients deserve a straight answer, even when it isn't the one they were hoping for, and I'd rather have that harder conversation than let someone operate on a plan that isn't working.

What I enjoy most about this work is the people behind the accounts. I've been fortunate to meet a lot of remarkable men and women over the course of my career, and hearing their stories, about their families, their careers, and their lives, is something I genuinely value.

Outside of work, most of my time belongs to my family. My wife Tara teaches first grade in the Oak Creek-Franklin school district. Our son Ian is 12 and has decided he's going to the major leagues someday (you have to have a dream before you can achieve one). Our daughter Nora is 9 and keeps herself busy with gymnastics, soccer, and basketball. I coach baseball for the Brookfield Junior Spartans, which gives me a chance to be part of something I love while teaching kids lessons that go well beyond the game. On a Saturday in the fall, there's college football on and something is on the grill.
